History

#A.L. Allen and Sons Land Company was founded in 1936 by Ami L. Allen. Ami's real estate background began in the '20s in Iowa and with Sears in the '30s when he managed the sales of Sears catalogue homes.

Coming to the Fox River Valley in 1935, Ami specialized in farm sales and the development of over 1400 acres of residential neighborhoods including: Foxwood Farms, Crane Woods, Gramma's Lane, Allendale, Deerpath Road Estates, Farmington, Cumberland Green, Pheasant Run, and Batavia Highlands. At the time of his death in 1969 he was considered a true "economic factor" in the Valley, having sold close to 1,000 farms.

Four of Ami's sons - Jack, Dick, Tom and Doug - have been involved with the Land Company over the years. Their backgrounds were in banking, law, oil and construction and specialties were formed in development, residential and large estates. All remained with the firm until their retirement. Mark Allen, Jack's son, joined the firm in 1977 after graduating from Boston University. He later received his MBA from Aurora University. Mark has acheived lifetime sales in excess of $70,000,000.00.
